Is it bad if I take zyrtec everyday?

Tags: , 8 Comments

Zyrtec is used to temporarily relieve the symptoms of hay fever (allergy to pollen, dust, or other substances in the air) and allergy to other substances (such as dust mites, animal dander, cockroaches, and molds). Consult doctor for dosage info! Any comments?

I am itching so bad I have bruses all over my body. . I am going to try to take zyrtec for a longer period of time than I did and see if I can get control of this.

Zyrtec should be taken as prescribed by a doctor. It can be taken daily (again as prescribed). What you can do is call your doctors office and speak with the nurse about your concerns. The number is on the bottle or prescription label. Of course, speaking to your pharmacist is second best. Also going to Zyrtec.Com or Drug.Com will allow you to research in between. As someone who has suffered from hives in the past, I would encourage you to visit your ER or a nearby urgent care the next time this happens. The medicine given there should help to alleviate the hives pretty immediately. Zyrtec, and medicines like it, should be taken during symptom stages or under the care of a physician. They are not sympathy drugs or sugar pills so should not be taken on an emotional basis (such as fear of the the hives returning). Ask your doctor if this drug should be used as an allergy prescription (like Claritin) or just as a histamine blocker because your sister is correct in assumption. And that assumption being you may build up a resistance which would result in higher dosages required if the body becomes dependent. This I dont know for sure, but a doctor or pharmacist could surely tell you. Finally, having suffered from hives, my heart goes out to you. Mine were anxiety driven, looked like welts and felt like fire and itching mixed together. I would not wish them upon the devil himself. As for your bodys response to environmental allergies, check this book out, Prescription for Nutritional Healing. It will help you understand how to protect your body and build up a better physical health. Also, try taking local bee pollen to help build a resistance to allergens. Good luck
