How long does it take for benadryl to take effect?

Tags: , , , 9 Comments

Benadryl, or diphenhydramine hydrochloride, when taken by mouth, works within 15 to 60 minutes. When injected through a muscle, it takes 20 to 30 minutes to work. When injected through a vein, it works rapidly. The effects of diphenhydramine hydrochloride work for approximately 4 to 8 hours, regardless of the form in which it is taken. Any comments?

I started taking Diphenhydramine hydrochloride as a pill this morning (11 hours ago) and my symptoms only worsened. (i’m taking 4 25mg pills a day)

I only 1st noticed symptoms last night (24 hours ago). Is this a problem or do I need to wait longer?

Symptoms are mostly just red spots all over my skin and puffed up, hot, red, ears. The spots are not that itchy, but they did spread quite a bit further and are more dense.
