How long does it take for hives to go away if you take benadryl?

    What are you reacting to and are you sure they are hives? Benadryl can take a bit of time to kick in, but if your unsure of what is causing the hives then you should see a doctor, especially if the hives keeping appearing. More:http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081011160803AA8WHiA

    Hey, I have the exact same thing . My doctor gave me some Benadryl and they went away almost instantaniously. I got them again tonight and took 2 benadryl capsules at home and the itchyness has gone down along with the swelling, but it did take a couple hours.
