Do you still ovulate while your on birth control pills?

The birth control pill works primarily by blocking ovulation (release of an egg) or prevent implantation but you still have your cycle as you normally would! In general, women do not ovulate until at least 10 days after stopping birth control pills. on! Any comments?

    Yes, hormonal birth control stops ovulation.What happens is that combination pills use estrogen and progestin to prevent ovulation, these hormones will also plump-up the uterus lining in the same way as the corpus luteum (the area where the egg would have come from if you had ovulated) would release these hormones to cause the uterus lining to plump-up. During the low-dose or placebo pills the levels of these hormones dip, which is what causes the uterus lining to shed – this causes bleeding. This is withdrawal bleeding, not your period. Its important to understand the difference.
