How long until lutera birth control is effective?

Tags: , , 9 Comments

Typically, you take one white pill daily for 21 days followed by one pink pill (inactive) daily for seven days. Also, Lutera is one the few birth control pills that can be used as emergency contraception. According to Planned Parenthood, you should take five white pills within 120 hours of unprotected intercourse and five more white pills 12 hours later. ! Any comments?

Jan 31, 2012 My boyfriend and I have had unprotected sex before… any type of protection so i recently just started Lutera birth control pills. Having them in your system longer would make it more effective for pregnancy prevention.

On the different color days reminder pills you will get your period. You shouldnt get it until then, but you may have some spotting sense you just got on the pill. It will not be possible to get pregnant during your period on the pill, unless you miss a pill or stop taking them. If you are pregnant already there arent really any side affects that will harm you or the baby if there is one. If you do not get your period during the reminder pills though, take a pregnancy test. You should wait at least a week before having unprotected sex. thats how long it takes for the pills to start working. Hope this helps!

Normal birth control pills, like Lutera, don’t start protecting you from pregnancy until 7 days into the pills. You should always use a condom during this initial week long period. Remember, Lutera does not protect from HIV and other STDs. More:http://www.chacha.com/question/when-does-the-birth-control-lutera-become-effective

Take the pill daily, but may already be too late to stop an egg from releasing during the current ovulation cycle, so you should wait until after your next period before using the pill without another form of birth control.
