Well, this is probably just my opionion but I have a good reason for thinking this way. I would say type one is more severe for two reasons. Type 1 has both a Mania and a Depression stage they can go through. But they can also go through a Manic Depressive stage, where they are going through both a Manic and Depressive stage at the same time. It is a very distressful feeling to the person feeling this way. Bipolar type two goes through something called a hypomania, it isnt as strong of a Mania as Type 1 and most people that have it actually enjoy their hypomania stage. They are very productive, have a lot of creative thoughts and it doesnt cause any disruptiveness to their lives. The mania that Bipolar 1 produces is very disruptive and can cause hallucinations and even make the person become pycotic.
