While cranberries can cause diarrhea in some people, it more common to expect it to relieve the symptoms, as well as urinary tract infections. They are grown on low shrubs. Traditionally, to harvest them the field on which they grow is intentionally flooded with water. The bushes are manually or mechanically agitated which knocks the berries loose. They are quite buoyant and float where they are skimmed off and collected. If a cranberry does not bounce to a certain height when dropped on a hard surface it is a reject. Some are not red but white and, as long as they bounce, are perfectly fine. When making them into juice, they are heavily sweetened for they are nearly unpalatable otherwise. The juice you drank is not even juice, by definition. Read the label – you will find it says juice “cocktail”. The straight juice is so piquant that it has to be spiked as much as 85% with water. You probably never had cranberry “juice”. Sorry I couldnt help more with your gut, but being an avid drinker of the stuff, my guess would be that your runs were just a coincidence, especially because you had so little.
