Nov 12, 2007 How long should I wait until I take the Valium today? Also, when I do get my norco’s refilled how long should I wait after my last Methadone

  2. Maudie says:

Methadone peaks at 3-5 hours and lasts 24-36 hours. When taking methadone for addiction it takes a few weeks to become stable meaning you have found a level that controls craving and eliminates withdrawal for 3-5 days. This level is different for everyone but on average 60-120 mg is the amount most effective for addiction therapy. Some patients experience side effects like sweating, constipation, etc. but these usually disappear in time. For myself it took about 3 months. When dealing with pain patients take smaller doses more frequently. A patient may take their whole days dose for addiction once a day whereas a pain patient may take 5mg up to three times a day.
