Oxycodone causes a stronger physical dependence than heroin, therefore worse withdrawals. Oxycodone is a relatively new drug and all of the data on how addictive it is has not yet been collected and made public. Also Purdu Pharma, the company that makes oxycontin has spent a lot of time and money minimizing the negative and addictive effects of oxycodone.http://www.onlinelawyersource.com/oxycontin/symptoms.htmlI have heard of oxy withdrawals lasting for two weeks.I was in a detox trying to get off of methadone. Everyone was knocked out and sleeping from the meds. Every one except me and a girl who was trying to kick oxys. Anything synthetic has a much worse kick. There is no easy way to stay well. Any maintenance program leads to higher tolerance, side effects and long term health problems. Staying well is never enough. There is always the need to occasionally get high.Since you are working with a doctor, I would ask about a detox protocol that includes, fenargan, clonodine, valium, and a muscle relaxer. None of these are opiates, but they make the withdrawal bearable. I kicked methadone twice with this protocol. You go cold turkey, but the medication treats the symptoms of withdrawal. If your doctor is uninformed about using or unwilling to use this method, seek out an addiction specialist. Just google it to find one locally. The problem with pain management or regular doctors is they dont understand addiction and go for the harm reduction method,. Harm reduction pretty much means, This idiot is going to be strung out for life anyway, we might as well keep him/her from hurting themselves extra by giving them a legal fix. (and why not make the money ourselves instead of giving it to seedy dope dealers).I spent 7 years strung out on heroin. I spent a total of three years of that time on the methadone clinic. I spent all of that time looking for a way to make my opiate use manageable. I tried everything from switching the type of opiates to stretching them with other drugs. It all came down to this…You cant win on dope. You have three choices. 1. Bite the bullet and go cold turkey. 2. Accept that you are an addict and dont mind being addicted and enjoy the ride. 3. Lie to yourself about how you have it under control and youll get off it soon right after….fill in the blank. You can find people to help you with any of these choices. Here is a link to help you find people to talk to who have been down this road and can help you to find and use all of your options.http://www.na.org/Here are some links to forums where you can talk to people who have been through or are going through this.http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php??t=423873page=2http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/substance-abuse/71904-oxycodone-withdrawal-help.htmlhttp://dallas.craigslist.org/forums/??forumID=12Addiction doesnt get any easier, it only gets harder. You are young and if you quit now youll save yourself a lot of heart ache. You may have to learn the hard way what millions of people have already discovered for themselves. The choice is yours. How far down do you need to go before enough is enough??

Oxycodone is not a new drug at all. You might be thinking of Oxycontin which contains Oxycodone. Oxycodone has been around in the USA for over 60 years prescribed as Percodan ,Percocet, Roxicet, Roxicodone,Tylox, Oxycocet Roxilox, and about 10 other names. The problems with it came in when Long Realease meds like Oxycontin started being abused causing OD’s.
