Why do people with downs syndrome all look alike?

The extra chromosome causes certain physical characteristics (appearance) and affects intellectual development (thinking skills). Any comments?

    Im wondering something, why do people with down syndrome all ways look alike ? i dont know why, but u see some one with down syndrome

    Most people have 23 pairs of chromosomes, for a total of 46. But a baby with Down syndrome has an extra chromosome (47 instead of 46) or one chromosome has an extra part. This extra genetic material causes problems with the way their bodies develop, and is similar to all Downs carriers.
